I don't post all too often and when I do it's usually a image I am on the fence with as is the case with this one.

Although I like the light I am not happy with the angle. These is also noise present in the adults tail due to the selected ISO and a lack of detail.

    All comments taken to heart.

Couls I ask how large of a Crop this is as the DOF seems to good for 500mm - f5.6.
Light angle is not ideal, but probably a little less contrast on the whole image, and desaturating a bit the yellow channel might help.
Also, some selective agresive NR to the wing tip and tail could help you with that issue.
I loved the natural moment and the species.
In a perfect world, both would have been standing giving you better body and Head anlges :)
    Congratulations!

I like the begging pose, angle, BG and captured moment. Too bad they were not parallel to the sensor. I would tone down the whites some more.

    Hey Mike
I think in a perfect world as we say, light angle and body/HA would have been more advantageous. However, I still like the interaction and there is at least a relatively good HA from the adult. I do see a bit of noise in the dark areas but that had already been mentioned. I was not there and I can only ask why not rest the lens foot in the sand and that would help stabilize it a bit more thus you could have stopped down for a little more DOF? Anyway, I do like it still and I am sure that 99.9999% of the world's population would also. :) On BPN 'we' tend to be perfectionists (well most anyway). :)

Though likely not possible if you could have gone well around to your left and had your shadow pointed at the birds this one might have made you famous. It is an interesting capture but..... I look at the image and keep seeing the perfect profile that existed right down sun angle....

Thanks to those who replied for your insights and comments.

Ramon, this is about 70% of the original

Akos, I was lying in a pool of water created from the outgoing tide so HH was the only option.

Mr. Morris, In the time it happened I could never get up off my fat belly in time to reposition. I am famous (just kidding), look at the last page of the current NWF magazine .
