I thought I had found a crow today until I heard its call (definitely not a caw, caw), and then later I learned that it was a Great-tailed Grackle -- my first. He was a cheeky rascal, and would not budge out of that tree. So i had to settle for some shadows across his body that I would like to have avoided. Aside from that I think I got the exposure pretty good, so very little cropping and tweaking was used.

Good looking bird Wendell Grackle it is !!! Good exposure comp, lots of detail in the black which btw will look purple with the right sun angle !!

Agree on the shadows through the body and wish it had a lower angle .. bg looks a little peculiar for that opening !! Should be finding more of them !!! Fun birds !!! .. btw females look brownish !!

I hadn't heard of a Grackle. I agree with the comment about the shadows, but can't be helped. Great looking bird, exposure looks good. Nice light in the eye.

Very good exposure on the bird, you captured the feather details very nicely. Already mentioned about the shadow across the body. The highlight in the background is a bit distracting but no big deal since the subject is the bird anyway.
