Just a another egret captured with building material early in the morning.
I was out again at the local university pond trying to improve my skills. (Golfers go to the driving range and I refer to the pond as my shooting range as there is a fair amount of action to practice on albeit on common birds.:D)
This was shot from a low angle against a BG in shadow with the morning sun shining on the bird. I wanted to capture the contrast while still retaining detail in the light feathers.

Camera Model Canon EOS-1D Mark III

    Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/4000
    Av( Aperture Value ) 5.6

I like the downturned wings and the reflection and I think you captured the bird at a good angle, nicely done. Overall, it seems a bit oversaturated and I might crop out the bottom just below the reflection.

Hi Dave, the lower angle really makes this, as we normally see these guys captured at higher angles. The whites look well controlled, and overall nice and sharp. He certainly pops from the BG, and the building material a bonus.

Think you have done a good job Dave. Retained it's punch and contrast and still have good details in the whites. Tack sharp. Good "practice round"... :)

Very sharp. I guess you sure stopped the action with 1/4000 second!
Like the deep blue and the contrast with the white makes for a powerful image.

My only suggestion here would be some off the bottom, the rest, pose, light, detail, colors, sharpness, exposure and comp are amazing!
    Congratulations!

Hi Dave, when I saw this picture it simply conveyed me the feeling of Egret in a large water body. Its well exposed and very sharp for me. Cropping or not depends totally on you can can't comment on that.
I liked the picture anyway :-).
