I know this guy is pretty much past me, but I decided to post the image anyway. I've had no luck so far in properly capturing a beautiful willet in flight. I welcome/encourage all criticism. What's your verdict?

HI Wendell - agree with your own self critique - best to get him before he has flown past you. The white patch on the tail is up around the 254 mark - might be able to tone it down a bit and recover some detail.
Looks like the point of focus might have been on the wing area as it looks the sharpest to my eyes - might have traded some shutter speed for some additional DOF. Is there a slight blue cast present some area's on the whites seem to have a blue tinge on my screen.
The 2X on the 70-200 is going to slow your AF down considerably if you can get close might be worth trying without the converter.
    Keep em coming :)

It looks like a beautiful setting Wendell. I think that is some crashing surf in the bg. Just a suggestion, but a pretty picture may be a smaller image of willet with more of the landscape included. Dave

    Hi Wendell,
I agree with Mr. Peters on the techs. The white patch on the bird is hot, and the head is a tad soft...just keep at it...looking forward to the next one...

Agree with the good comments give by Lance. You have a beautiful background there (except for a little smudge in front of the bird), like a painting. If I am you I probably give this place a visit again.

Agree with comments !! Most important is the exp comp !!! I you would have nailed it in a good position and sharp ... would still have been over !!! These birds are difficult and best to get them setting up and letting them come to you !!!
