    Default Another African Fish Eagle

    Attached Images Attached Images

Another image from my trip to the Okavango earlier this month. I deliberately tried a wider angle here to show off the lush environment of the Okavango Delta. The eagle was baited with a fish. Comments are always appreciated and welcomed:) thanks for looking!

Classic thirds comp works very well here, Chris. You've succeeded well in illustrating the habitat with the papyrus just blurred enough to focus on the bird but still recognisable.

I don't think a birdscape could get much better than this... I am just simply amazed with this image.. speachless.
Great comp, light, colors, detail, ambient, saturation, sharpness, species.. all A+

Killer image, Chris! Love the COMP and front capture, especially showing this tack sharp eagle in its habitat. It prompted me to check out your website, so tonight I will dream of going to the Okavango on one of your photo safaris!

This image works very well, showing the habitat. Although the bird is small it still has detail in feathers and eye! Would make an excellent print. TFS

BTW, I am going to a raptor workshop and I am taking a 200-400, do you recommend using it with 1.4 TC or naked?

I like the inclusion of the habitat and composition and would only tone down the highlights on neck and feet.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone, appreciated as always. Arash the 200-400 is razor sharp, even with a 1.4X, but it will slow down your autofocus speed.

Hi Chris, the Okavango must team with photographic opportunities. The FE really pops from the BG, and I can see him flying closer towards you with fully outspread wings. Apart from the birdlife what are the game opportunities like?

Stuart the game opportunities depends on where you go. At Xaro, where we go, the game opportunities are not great, mostly crocs and hippo's, but the birds are amazing. I guess your nest game opportunities would be in Moremi Game Reserve?

this is so good Chris. love the wider frame and the eagle really pops nicely. sweet light too - but you know that!

Stu - Moremi, Savuti and Chobe reserves are good for game (at least it was when I was last there in '98) :)

    Chris
I so love viewing the habitat images......they give a much better view of the whole picture. As we say in education.......a holistic approach. Well done.
