Default unable to size an image correctly

    I have Photoshop Elements 5.0.

I have tried to correctly size an image to 800x800 or 800 x 1024 pix width and I still end up with only about 1/3 of the image.

I am so green and altho green is "in", it certainly is not a beneficial situation/color when trying to upload images for critique.

Art Morris recommended this forum to me at the Midwest Birding Symposium and I am anticipating feedback!
    Thank you.

you need advanced mode(I think) and be able to view tool options.....similar to this.
And welcome Ginny....this is the best "critique/learning" forum group on the web IMO!

    Hi Ginny
I also have Photoshop Elements But for resizing and cropping I mostly use the free FastStone Image Viewer.
You can set any size you want provided the shape of the rectangle or square etc can fit the ratio.
Afterwards for posts of images to BPN I resize the kilobyte size in PSE with Save For Web to get it under the 200 Kbs limit.

Ginny, absolutely NO GOOD reason to introduce another bit of software
into your workflow. Elements is very capable and introducing another
program "just" for cropping/sizing is not the best approach......IMHO!

Learn how to do it in Elements and you will not regret it, again IMHO!

Default Wil Simply Learn From Others

Thank you all for your feedback endeavoring to help me get an image sized correctly for this forum. I have tried everything, including PS and Fast Stone Image, to no avail so will simply learn from comments on your wonderful images. What a beneficial "classroom" this site is. I appreciate Artie suggesting it.
