    Default Giraffe Kill

    Attached Images Attached Images

During my recent trip to the Kruger National Park, we came across this giraffe that looked like it had been killed the previous night. As can be seen, all the insides had been eaten, but the skin was still intact, together with the head, neck and legs, thus confirming it was a recent kill. What bothered us was that there was just this single lioness guarding the kill. Normally they hunt and eat in numbers. I will continue this story with other images. Taken in overcast conditions, thus helping with what could have been harsh light. Full Frame.

Thia was a great find for you and the cat :) I like how she blends with the BG. wish her tail would have been lower to give you more room to the left to include the whole zebra if possible. Will be looking forward to the rest of the story. TFS.

Good behavior shot Peter. Her tail is up as if she is irritated or something nearby is bothering her. (Just an aside, but the very first time I was in Kenya, I saw a Lioness charge out at a Giraffe in the Samburu NP. My fellow traveller's wondered why and argued with me when i mentioned being on the dinner menu.... ). Never travelled with tourists since... :D. Fine shot and look forward to more.

    Stuart,
Great find. I would be tempted to go wider. Some more space at the left would have enhanced the image.

David, I can imagine your situation. I was once with a bunch of tourists. They identified the Guar (Bos gaurus) as Rhino and argued. Since then, I don't share vehicle with others.

    Cheers,
