I liked how it was in this kind of burrow in the sand. At first it was so low down I didn't even notice it right in front of me-but it started to come up in this shot. I have some w/ it really low-but felt showing more of the bird was best.

Very nice shot denise. The low angle and detail are great. The wet rocks reflecting the light really add to the shot.

Ex, light and DOF are perfect. The coarse sand adds interest. I think if the bird was lower the bill would get lost in the pebbles. Nice job.

    Denise:

Very nice, and a good example that lower isn't always better! Unless you have a perfectly smooth and flat foreground like water, I find it is easy to get too low and have too much OOF blur. This works well. As mentioned, the wet pebbles add a lot of interest.

    I like the composition too.

I like the detail, colour and DOF.
I find the amout of OOF foreground a bit distracting and would tend towards cropping a bit out.

Very appealing image here Denise. I love the clean pebbles - they look just about ready to put into an aquarium! I would personally crop away about half of the OOF area at bottom - but that is subjective of course

Beautifull image Denise. I agree, the wet pebbles does add dimension.

Nice hunker-down pose, great HA and catchlight, Denise! I love the wet pebbles and BG, agree that cropping out some of OOF foreground would strengthen the COMP. This is a fat late-season semi plover, all fueled up for the long journey to come.

Hey Denise, you make me sick with these wonderful shorebird images. The light in this is exquisite, and overall so sharp. Killer BG, and agree cropping off the botttom, and even a little off the top will work.

Great bird, just love the sand, so uniform in size, great color too.
These guys kneel like this when afraid of predator from above.
I you look closely you can see that bunch of them go in the position

Lovely image - I like the low angle and pebble setting. The plover is sharp too.
