Hitting the ceiling with the MkII here... @ 1/5000 sec... iso 1000... 400mm f5.6 @ F7... flash with a beamer @ 1/8 output.
Bushhawk of course... i used single shot mode and prefocused on the Warbler... then i swung the camera out to the side and waited for the leap. Sometimes you get the timing right....:)
Thx people for your time and words... here is the rework.
Tony... i edited my original Swallow post and believe answered all the questions asked.
Welcome back, Euan. Great anticipation and timing. Sharpness looks good but may be worth revisiting the sharpening to eliminate the halo below the beak and in front of the neck. There are a number of unanswered questions on your previous post http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...504#post333504 to which answers would be appreciated in the spirit of mutual learning.
Great timing. Having spent about an hour last night trying to catch finches flying to and from my feeders last night, I appreciate how hard this is for small, fast birds.
Agree with the tech comments, esp. the sharpening side effects. What are using to do your sharpening?
Besides the halo issue I really like the timing here, pose is fantastic and etail and colors as well as comp and species are also very nice.
Congratulaitons!
Your timing spot on to freeze the bird with the perfect wing position. I like the colours and sharpneess. The halos can easily be fixed. Congrats on a cracking image Euan.
The pose is insanely good and the eye is sharp, but when the first thing that I notice are the halos you know that you have overdone it.
