    Default Red Shoulder Hawk juvenile

Driving down the back roads of Lakeville, MA Sunday afternoon, I spotted this guy on a telephone pole. Wasn't expecting to get so close to him but it seemed he wasn't bothered by me. Light was ultra harsh but I couldn't give up a chance like this so I pulled over onto the grass and walked a few meters into grass that was shoulder high to me. He stood there for about 3 min. then finally flew off into the woods. Glad I had my camera with me even if it isn't that great of an image. Wish I were standing further back to get all of him into the frame.
Slight crop to dissect his bottom wing better. Lightened his eye a bit and toned down bright spots on his head and leading edge of his wings.

Thanks for looking, All C/C appreciated

P.S. Sorry for not being around as much anymore, I've been having withdrawal symptoms! :D

You managed to get fair amount of detail out of the shadowed areas, still, not the best light and to be honest, the crop doesn't really work for me.. maybe tighter... I am not sure :o

Hi Brian, sometimes when our subjects get too close, we have to make the best of the situation with the comp. If you have more space below, it will work, as the edge of the tail is a tad tight. I dont mind the nearer wing clipped, as you have explained your situation. The detail from the underwings is there, and I would maybe selectively sharpen the head.
