Default Atlantic puffin with a mouthfull of sardines

Skomer island on coast of Wales in the british islands is a bird heaven. I was there for the first time in April to see the most famous resident of the island, the Puffins. Although I saw them in plenty... it was not the time of the year when they bring mouthful of sardines to feed their voracious chicks in the burrows. So I made a quick dash again in June... the trip was worth it!!

This is my first post on BPN... glad to be part of this amazing group.

    Cheers

Welcome to BPN Hemanth! That's an impressive mouthful of fish! As Harshad points out, more eye contact would have really strengthened this image. I would place the bird slightly more to the right in the frame. With regard to exposure, I would try to bring out more detail in the blacks, which look slightly blocked. Please try to include tech info along with your images. Again, welcome to BPN!

    Welcome to BPN.

It is a good place to learn for sure. Can you please post the camera info with your pictures. It helps others to give the best possible critics.
Nice bird; litte head turn would be better and I wish for some more detail in the black area. Some of the bright spots are a bit burned as well. Like the fish holding pose and the beautiful BG.

Looking forward to see more pictures from you.

    Welcome!
Let us know what camera & lens you're using and some of the EXIF would be nice as well.
I'm biased with Puffins, but I'll try.
I like the colors, the mouthful, BG and FG, Comp and light.
Wish for a better HA / more eye contact

Welcome, Hemanth. Head angle mentioned. I like the colours. Always amazes me how they can keep grabbing another sand eel with out losing the others in the beak. Agree with moving the puffin to the right in a the frame a little and maybe cropping a little from above to lift the eye onto a line of thirds. Looks like a great place to visit.

Much better comp and head angle, Hemanth. Only points are some blown whites on the brow and breast. May be an option to reprocess the RAW file with a bit more recovery. Pity about the rigor mortis pose of the front sand eel. Slightly lightening the puffin eye may be an option. I really like the BG and FG blur.

This is great to see. I love the beak full of fish, beautiful colours and bg. I also prefer the HA in the 2nd image but both are lovely shots.

Very nice. Well done! The low angle and OOF foreground is good. I would turn down the saturation just a little.

Well done Tony on the fish ID! We call them Sand Lance in Canada.

    Hi Hemanth
Beautiful sharp images of this delightful bird.
I do find the oof foreground a wee bit distracting so here is a repost.
    Cheers: Ian Mc
