    Default Kayaker

Enjoying the late calmness of the evening. York Lake Saskatchewan. 50D at 1/2000, ISO 400 and 70/200 F4, IS at 5.6. I am curious about the evening colours shown here. I had posted another sunset shot from same evening and processed with a much cooler tone to it. Roman suggested I chnage the wb to cloudy or shade and here I used cloudy. Dave

Hi Dave - Life on Golden pond - love the golden hues on the water - The cloudy or shade WB certainly enhances reds/yellows. Composition looks good with the kayaker placed nicely in the frame.
Does it need just a tad CW rotation??

Good show - keep them coming :)

Techs are solid and composition is great - well done.

Daylight brings out the evening colors well, but cloudy is a nice effect too, I use it often.

Hi Dave The temp change is just perfect, like it a lot !!!

Got one suggestion regarding the composition. Might work better as more of a pano, I understand you want to show the tones in the sky but think about taking from the top and bottom !!!! Neat image any way you look at it !!!

Nice shot. I like the timing of the paddle stroke so the paddle is silhoutted distinctly. My first thought, like Alfred's, was to try a pano. Cutting the bottom off just below the kayaker in the lighter toned water, and then taking some from the top.

    Thanks for sharing.

Dave, I like the image especially the different bands of color and the positioning of the kayak. For my taste I would take a bit off the top. Well handled!!

    Hi Dave,
I like this very much, I like the tones of yellows and the placement of the subject in frame. This would look good as a pano crop also...looking forward to your next one...

    Hi Dave
I really like the composition of this image.
I doubt whether a pano would enhance it, as the way presented gives a good feeling of space.
The colours seem so appropriate for a fall image.

    Thanks everyone for the comments.
I had levelled off the far shore so I think I am all right, but the dark strip where the water changes is slightly different and seems to through it off a bit.
I had not thought of a pano actually and probably another way to get a presentation.
I am glad the colours seems to work all right.

love the image. I like the variety you see in the top and bottom and wouldn't want to crop there. But I do like the idea of a pano. I'd try cropping the middle out of the trees lol and making that dark strip more narrow. To me, that strip doesn't add any interest to the image like the sky and water add.
