From a previous trip to the Okavango last year. These little jewels are so common in the quiet channels it is unreal. I saw this one just as the last rays of the sun caught it on an open perch. Quite challenging to photograph it from a boat though:) I removed a few distracting leaves behind the bird.

Chris these are one of my favorite birds!!! The surrounds and the BG are wonderful. Their colors are stunning and I never tired from watching them go about their business on my trips to Africa.

Cool bird and I really like the composition, light and sharpness. If anything I might make the diagonal pinkish part in the BG that crosses the bill a bit less prominent.

I am not crazy about the perch going OOF, but that is preety much it, I loved the species, light, comp, perch textures, colors, and specielly the GREAT BG.

Just stunning Chris. Love the light, detail and the way the lines of the perch, greenery above the bird and the background all complement each other.

    cheers

Super image, super bird. I like the oranges of bird, perch and background, along with the bird's pose and crisp presentation.

Chris, lovely evening light there. We don't have them around our part of the world. I like the crop too showing a bit of environment.

Nicely framed between top and bottom foliage. I like the light, and you have exposed the colours very well. Great image Chris.
