    Default Lesser Yellowlegs

Most of the shorebirds have departed us for the photographers and birders to the south. Here's a yellowlegs from earlier this fall that I rather liked. A big uncertain about the lower crop though with a sliver of the reflected body showing.

I like the feel of this, Troy. The BG works well and the striding pose highlights the trademark yellow legs. I see what bothers you with the reflection but would tend to use some blurring rather than cropping to address it. I have tried a quick version using onOne Focalpoint, cleaned up some bright spots, NR on the BG and some selective sharpening on the bird to illustrate what I think.

I like the walking pose, eye contact and calm water. I would lighten the BG a bit and crop a bit off the bottom.

And here I thought the dark background was one of the strong points of the shot. But here's a version with a bit off the bottom.

I don't mind the dark BG. I do like your reposted crop at bottom, and Tony's sharpening and water touch-up. I find the colours somewhat muted, especially on the legs...you could add some saturation on the yellow channel. Nice alert walking pose!

    Thanks Daniel,

I thought I had cropped out most of the area Tony had worked but he had done more than my initial look had revealed (sorry about that Tony). The bird had rather dull legs. This may be partially an age thing but some of the others I photographed were brighter but not as yellow as the adults. I've added some modest saturation and more sharpening, we'll see if this shows in the web version.
