    Hi Arsdel....

The background is nice with one exception...that being the bright area on the right side which I find distracting.

It looks as though you might have run heavy NR on this image although it may simply be the fact that you wee at 5.6 as the eyes, bull and toes all seem to be in the same plane of focus and all look sharp.

I wish you would have given this a little more dof and gotten the beak sharp as it looks odd being blurry. Perch is also on the big side. Exposure looks good though and nice colors.

Nice symmetrical direct stare. Agree on the bright area on the right of the BG and a smaller aperture to gain DOF but you were a bit short on light with ISO400 and only 1/500s. Even the sharply focussed areas seem a bit soft. May just be a sharpening for web issue unless it was a significant crop. Love the colours and the flash was a good idea although a little less flash intensity may have been nicer.

Love the stare and it is sharp though a little more DOF would indeed have been helpful for the overall pleasing feel. Nevertheless it is a fine capture IMHO. My only issue is the not so nice broken top of the perch.
