    Alroy:

Good timing with fine wing position, good head angle.

The head seems a little soft compared to the far wing. Obviously not motion blur at this shutter speed. Is this image a significant crop?

Background is complimenatry, but I find the foreground so bright and dominant that it detracts from the bird. There are some color defects/compression defects in the BG by the birds left wing (right side of image)

I would consider lowering the luminosity of the foreground rock a bit so its doesn't overpower the bird.

    Thanks for sharing.

Nice pose, Alroy. Image does look very bright despite exposure settings suggesting 1/3 stop underexposure from sunny f16 (probably due to bright surroundings if using an automated metering setting). Did you need to brighten the image in post to get the underwing details? If so masking the adjustment to the bird would limit the brightening of the surrounds. The image is in ProPhotoRGB which will affect the display in non-colour aware browsers - safest to save in sRGB for posting.

Not a pretty bird! But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Definately different. I think some of the rock could be cropped.
Like the overall spacing in the image.
