Default Marbled Godwit ~ Late Light

    Attached Images Attached Images

Image created this past Monday afternoon on Plymouth Long Beach in Plymouth, MA.

It was the only day we've had this week with decent late light so I made the most of it, spending 2 hours with this pair of southbound migrants.

The dark background is an inbound wave.

I am processing these on a laptop I'm not used to working on, so please let me know if the image looks acceptable?

    Nikon D300s, 500VR, TC14EII, ISO 640, F 7.1, 1/1250, CW Metering, NearUniWB, +1.7EV applied.

Super comp and pose, and well timed to show the beak coming out the water. I like the softer light, and overall nice and sharp. Great capture Jim.

Your question of does this look acceptable? YES. Very nice. Great timing, lovely light. The eye looks a bit odd with an overly large catchlight or reflection. Simple enough to fix. Great image.

Catch light is the real deal......I didn't use flash on any of these. Perhaps the low angle of the light or a reflection off the water attributed to this?

Congrats on a stunning image Jim. You timed it to perfection to freeze the trailing water from the beak. I also like the low angle and the bird pops nicely from the BG. Well done sir!

Lovely light showcases the plumage nicely. The double catchlight is from the reflection on the water, should be easy to remove if you want to, this happens in a lot of my shorebird images.

Super shot - open mouth and water add a lot but composition and exposure (the usual stuff) are great too.
