    Default Look what I caught

Taken from the car window on the extremely long dirt road from Doņana National Park, Spain, back to the civilized world. Only noticed the dragonfly this Yellow wagtail caught when I got to processing back home!

Panasonic DMC-FZ18, 83 mm (500 mm eq.), Nikon TC17-ED, pattern metering, f/8, 1/640 sec, ISO100, EC 0. PP in Corel Photopaint, levels, sharpening.

    Kind regards,

    Jerry.

    Jerry:

Isn't it fun to find something unexpected when processing the images!

The sun angle was against you here, high and far to the right, but the turn of the birds head helped a lot.
The prey is great. I like the environment, looks barren.

If you haven't already tried, you may be able to bring up some more shadow detail in post. I don't know your software, but assume it has such a function.

    Nice catchlight.

I would prefer your sig. line not to be under the tail. Best to move it off towards a lower corner.

    Thanks for sharing.

Often not much you can do about light angle when confined to a vehicle, but as Randy states at least this head turn permitted the face to be adequately lit. I would normally prefer a lower angle, but I like this one as is for the awesome sprinkling of pebbles in the BG. Nice bonus surprise with the dragonfly!

Thanks for the comments! I'll move that signature line to a corner next time and work on the shadows of this image (no time right now, though). It was a bit of a lucky shot with the prey and the head angle providing some light despite the hour! Glad you like it.

    Jerry.
