Another from my workshop. Thanks to Teresa Duddy, one of my participants pointed this out just before it happened. I readjusted my manual exposure on the fly but only had time for adjusting the shutter but still had plenty of DOF at 100mm and f/5.6.

This is really a wonderful image Robert, one that I am sure will look great in print. The only thing that bugs is the flare spot mid center, though this is a minor consideration. Colors are great the bear in shadow set against the bright reflections in the water, with setting sun makes for a nicely composed image.

    Kevin,

Thanks for the kind comments and reminding me I needed to correct that flare. I had went back and fixed it after initially making the JPG to upload but must have picked the wrong one and never noticed.

Wonderful colors and scene Robert. Flare has been mentioned, so well done for quick reactions.

Very nice silhouette, wish you had left the original for comparison and that the bear was more to the left in the compo, both for more space in front since he's going away and to get exactly in the light trail.

    Thanks Fabs,

The flare mentioned by Kevin was minimal and I had removed it but just uploaded the wrong JPG. The images before and after this one have the bear in a bad position and head angle. This was the most pleasing positioning of the bear. I cropped some off the front because I felt it made the image unbalanced. That got him closer to the frames edge but I feel it looked better then the original image.

By the time I got the camera set for exposure, the bear past the position you are suggesting. As I was relatively close and we had been advised to stay in our group and not pursue the bears for a better angle, I took what I could get.

    Thanks for stopping by. :)

    Robert,

I like the image. I would crop a little bit from the bottom to move the horizon away from the centre. It seems you had a great time there. Look forward to more.

Lovely setting Robert...I just wish you would have photographed this with another lens. The sun and the bear are too close to the edges for my comfort. A bit wider composition (perhaps even horizontal) would have resulted in a more pleasing composition in my humble opinion.

    Robert,

Wonderful image. I prefer your subject placement, as quite often placing the subject in the highlight area will result in what looks like halation around the subject. I do not think it wrong to have a subject walking away from the camera placed as presented.

    Well done amigo.

    Best,

    Chas

Very nice image Robert, I would however prefer the horizon to not be exactly half way up the image and would therefore cut a bit off the bottom - just my personal taste :)
