Sometimes there just isn't enough ram to make a client pretty. I deliberately placed him in the middle of this photo as I would on one of my portrait clients. This image was created with the Nikon D300 and 200-400 1/400 ISO 200 f4?

    Rod:

A face only a mom could love.

Sharp, well exposed, nice detail, great eye.

Only the BG seems a bit out of place. Natural?

I like the details, exposure, and colours. Although you deliberately placed him in the center I still would have preferred had you pointed the lens more to your left.

Yes, the background is reeds and water

Thanks Daniel, why would you reposition the subject in this photo, and place a man in the center of the frame for his portrait ? This image was cropped to put the subject in the center. Thanks

A man's face is not elongated horizontally like that of this guy. If we had long noses like birds' bills then I would uncenter us for portraits like this too :-) As is there is much less room in front of the tip of the bill than there is behind the head - a man would normally not have that "problem".

Point well taken, I figured his left shoulder balanced the image out. Thanks

Lovely rendering of a "warty" face and beautiful reddish eye Rod, and I like the soft colours in the BG.

Rod, I like the BG colors very much and you have very good details. Beautiful eye.

Very nice, I think you need to smooth the skin, remove the blems, highlight the eyes,
remove eye bags, whiten the bill.......... :D :D :D :D

Hi Rod, I love the detail and colour captured. Ditto Daniel on the comp. I am not into photograping people but would still ask if you would place a profile portrait centrally with a 2/3 ratio frame? (just asking to improve my knowledge)

Nice portrait, but having less bg in 'front' of the subject than 'behind' unbalances it a little for me.

Amazingly sharp, and showing great detail. Another vote for placing him a liitle to the right. Doesnt distract from a great image though.
