Taken on a recent bird walk through the Montlake fill adjacent to Lake Washington. First time I have
seen a juvenile. The bluish beak and eye ring distinguishes it from the adult.

Hi Terry, I like the inquisitive pose, and your comp works well. Is this a big crop, as I can see some noise on the darker feathers. I would maybe try and run another round of sharpening on him. Great sighting all the same.

Thanks for your comment and suggestions, Stuart. Here's a filtered and slightly more sharpened version. It was a fairly significant crop (wish I had a 500mm :)).

Nice pose, and comp. The angle is a bit steep, and even with more sharpening, the detail is lacking. Did you run NR on the whole image? If so, I would suggest that you only run it on the BG.

Thanks very much for the suggestion, Aidan. I couldn't do much about the steep angle, at least with a 400. I have posted a shot taken a few seconds later - I think a bit sharper.

This image does seem a bit better.

Thanks again, Aidan. I appreciate the input. I'll work on it :)
