Another one from last weekend at the beach. This was taken around 8:00 AM, and the light was just starting to get harsh.

The blacks look very good in this one, I also like the walking pose, sharpness, angle and setting and I don't find the light too harsh. The pupil looks a bit like a half moon, is this due to the reduction of the image size?

Great detail in the blacks, very nice and interesting pose, the BG is good,
These birds have very interesting legs, you've got them right here, not too bright.
The bill is excellent, I'd guess easy to overexpose in this situation, got it good here.

Agree with the comment about the blacks, nice job. I like the surf blurred in the BG too.

    Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Axel, this is not from image size reduction, that is how the eye looks. It is common in Black Oystercatcher's for the pupil to be oddly shaped, or look smudged, but not in any other species that I know of. I'll ask John about it.

Interesting, there was a thread in the behavior forum a while back. All OC images posted had more black than the regular pupil. I don't remember seeing one with an 'incomplete' pupil.

Very nice image. Expo control just perfect. Details on blacks are really nice.
    Not an easy image.

Looks great! Never seen one, but it looks funky in a nice way. I might go for placement even further to the right in the frame. European OC's also have very odd pupils.
