I took this in Death Valley and was playing around with compositions on a more difficult subject than it looks.Shot a number of variations wanting to get as clean a comp as I could. I cut the rightside due to it running a long way...

Boy, Dave, I like this a lot! I would maybe add a tiny bit of room to the top of the frame just to give that cliff area a little bit of breathing room but everything else is fantastic. You got a wonderful "S" curve comp and it really brings out the drama in the image.

Dave, I agree w/ a bit more room up top. Very nice composition and I like the conversion. Does look like a difficult shot-but you mastered it beautifully!

I'm trying to figure out the location. I agree with more room on top and perhaps more on the right. did you take any in landscape mode? could be near stovepipe?

Hi Michael, Yes, It's on the dunes near stovepipe.I took many variations of this type of terrain. The white material went far out to the right and I didn't like the comp with it all in. The trick was where to cut it...
