    Default Tricolor heron

On Biscayne Bay. Among the black mangrove roots as the background, this tricolor heron was stalking its prey intently. For me, the roots made this shot more interesting than usual.

PS I know one of the issues with shooting from the canoe is not getting an optimal low angle. Getting out of the boat is not always an option for various reasons. So today, I sat on the bottom of the canoe, which lowered my camera by about 1 foot. I think it worked.

Connie- I agree the mangrove makes for a very interesting BG, and it's not obtrusive. Yes your low angle worked nicely but you still have a great reflection. Can I suggest that a slight saturation boost may give the image a bit more punch.

Nice pose, crop and reflection. I would sharpen the bird more and find the setting a bit busy.

I love the reflections of both the bird and the vegetation.

Oh nice! I love the effect of all those new green sprouts (is that what they are?). I like the overall feel to the image. As posted a bit more sharpening on the heron is all that is needed.

    Hi Connie,
I love the reflections and the BG. I too would sharpen the bird a tad more.

Thanks again for the great suggestions as always. I will work on this for sharpening. Although I did do a sharpening mask, I might try selective sharpening of the head.

Connie, great fishing pose, and the low angle has turned out well. Good to see the reflection, and I like how maroon colour on the heron compliments the BG colour.

Thanks Stuart, I didn't specifically notice that, but you are right!
