Last weekend I wanted to work on the use of an incident meter, so popped over to my local bird sanctuary.
The mallards were active, so got to try various techniques for using the Sekonic L-558. It was very educational comparing its readings to the cameras meter. At this point, I think they both have their uses. When the light was constant, the incident meter did very well across a wide range of subjects and backgrounds. If the light was changing frequently, it was a bother to constantly remeter with it.

Love the action captured and the reflection puts it over the top. The colors and water splashes are great. I'd like to see a little more room top and bottom though. Congrats
nice to have a clear view of the head Randy, cool action shot., I like the bg colours a lot., I would suggest going tighter on the right side, with more if available on the left., but it really looks great as is. I would have cloned out the small bright spot on the top center.
Hi Randy, great action captured, and love the larger splash above him - looks like a question mark. I too, can see you moving him back to the right a bit, the space on the left is fine, and I would add a bit to the top, to get away from him being placed centrally.
Love the action and the clear bright feel of the image:-) I think the pano crop works well and the sharp reflection is a bonus! Might clone out the two oof white spots just behind the head
Nice action shot! Interesting that you are experimenting with incident light metering. That was a big part of my photography back in the fim era and I'm glad to be doing without it...so far! What are the circumstances where you see it has a place in digital photography? Maybe just a cone to hold over the lens would suffice, and point the camera skywards.
