Fallen palm in the BG is very dominant and seems to be where the focus locked as it seems sharper than the bird. A tighter crop and some burning may help the bird become more the focus of attention. De-centering it in the comp may also be worth trying. Here's a quick attempt with some added selective sharpening on the bird to give an idea of what I had in mind.

similar to Tony's idea, but i thought this was worth a try.
Nice image, but I think the fallen palm distracts too much from the bird., at least it is interesting. Agree on the slight focus miss... single sensor and really lock in on the bird!
I like Tony's crop idea, the angle and soft light and wish the head were angled more towards you.
