    Default Black Oystercatcher

The Black Oystercatchers at Morro Bay seem to like to spend a lot of time in the surf. I have better poses of this guy, but the light wasn't as nice.

The wave in the BG doesn't bug me, but I am still undecided about the line near the legs.

    Aidan:
I actually like this pose, gives him a purposeful, striding look.

Sharp, nice HA, reds well handled, like surf in BG, shooting angle.

    Well done.

Very nice detail on the blacks, BG quite bright but creates nice almost hi-key feel,
for some reason I like the feet very much here (the bill is cool by default :))
I wish the water line was horizontal but it is good as is too.

Sharp, well-composed, and I like the raised foot. Great detail in the blacks but the light does look on the harsh side and the image does look bright, esp. the legs. You might try going to Hue-SAT and moving the Ligthen slider to the right a bit.... Or, try a 30% or so Mulitply layer.

Thanks, all for the comments. I thought the light was pretty nice, and soft...

Here is a repost with a multiply layer, and added some blacks to the blacks in selective color.

Very nice OC. Love the raised foot too. Agree about darkening the image a little. Overall a great image.
I gave it a try, I hope you don't mind.;)

Aidan, The repost is much better but I would go with the original bill color. You can go Control A, Control J, make your changes, and then erase the bill. Either that or select the bill, inverse the selection, use Refine Edge, and then proceed.

Thanks, Artie, you are right, the reds are pushing it in the repost.

Hi Aidan, well exposed with the blacks, and I like the overall light in this. Sharp, and I would keep your OP.

I like the striding pose and the wave/surf in the BG. You did very well with the exposure on the blacks. Overall a very good image Aidan.

I like the striding pose, angle, eye contact and BG. The blacks in the repost look much better and I might darken the legs a bit more.

Nice image Aiden. the original is a bit bright but the repost is spot on. Love the detail.
