Default Osprey flying with large carp

This Osprey was captured at San Elijo Lagoon in Cardiff, Ca. After landing on a post the Osprey took to flying again and I made this image. I think it flew because of a Peregrine perched about 50 yards away on another post, it never did seem comfortable, but what bird does with a Peregrine around. Background is a wetlands at low tide. Critiques and comments help for sure. Thank you.

    Chris:

Great capture for fish, and you. Nice wing, tail and head position. Perhaps just a bit hot on the whites, but close.

Main issue for me is the softness of the birds head/eye area. Its not clear where the focus point was, but the root of the far wing and some of the tail seems sharper than the head. Shutter speed should have been enough.

With selective eye doctor work, I think you can improve the presentation. It is amazing he could fly with this fish.

    Cheers

    Randy

Agree with Randy. The BG is also not ideal, and I might tone down the highlights a bit more.

Randy and Aidan got all points covered, I'm not bothered by the whites so much, but wish for better
sharpness and cleaner BG. The action and the pose are excellent though.

Excellent comments above. The fish is razor sharp; it must be closer to us than the bird's head.

Every time I read the title it seemed to say, "Osprey Flying with Large Crap." :)

I agree with the above comments. I would have added a 1/3 on the exposure to get better detail in the darks, then pulled back the whites in PP.
