Default I do not normally like...

I do not normally like Ducks, Geese or Swans just 'floating by', but this Shoveller appealed to me.

I like ducks just swimming and especially colorfull ducks like shovelers. Goo HA, bkgnd, exposure and sharpness. I would print and hang it.

I like it too, though it seems a bit tight, especially on the right. Good angle, EXP control and sharpness.
    Way to go, Telly.

I also find it a bit tight, and some of the whites are hot...but I really like this image. Great colours, and I dig that it is swimming slightly towards us. I can see why you like it!

Most shots of shovellers that I have are swimming away, or in such tight groups that you really can't see them well. My favorite part is how well the bill shows here. Agree about the tightness of the comp, but easy to add canvas here if you want.

The always make me think of comic book ducks!

I feel it is tight as well. However the great detail and color help overcome this shortcoming.

Though this is a bit too contrasty, you did very well in relatively bright light. WIth softer light you would have been able to reveal the detail in the darker areas of the face.

The detail looks good to me, and well done on the exposure on the head. Sharp, and I like the colour of the water. Maybe a bit tight on the RHS.
