This is a female sunbird trying to balance on a flower. The male of the species is much more colourful than the female you find in the picture. Shot during my last months Malaysia tour.

Equipment used: 1D Mark II, EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, Canon EF 2x II, ISO 800, f5.6, 1/400, shot from a car window.

Nice find, perch and image. I would give it more room at the top and wish for better eye contact.

Nice perch. I think she needs more room at the top. With the tight crop and the crouching pose, whe looks like she's trying not to bump her head. Maybe a vertical crop would work as well.

Nice perch, pose and colours. The BG is a bit noisy and would like more DOF for the tail.

    Hi All,
Just a clarification. The shot is not cropped at all. I clicked it when the bird just sat on the flower. I would have loved some more depth of field. Unfortunately, even at ISO 800 the shutter speed was only 1/400 at f5.6. So I stuck to f5.6
