    Default Sanderling in winter plumage...

Went out with Ted and Grace early Monday morning and I found this sanderling out on a spit out in the Hamptons.

The light just broke the horizon, winter plumage was a suprise to me which is why I chose a rump shot to show the plumage.

    Thanks for looking,
    Lou

This is a nice shot Lou.
I think this angle is probably showing off the more interesting aspects of the birds. It would've been nice if the light was a little more behind you though. I also wonder if a possible cropping alternative would work that does not include the OOF mud in the foreground.

I like the mood, soft light and look-back pose and might lighten the eye a bit more. I agree that a slight crop off the bottom would work, too.

Lou, I like the pose and it does show off the plumage well. Agree w/ lightening the eye. Beautiful soft light goes well with the bird's coloring.

Lou, I really like the pose, position of the bird in the frame and the low angle. I agree about OOF foreground should be cropped. I might consider cloning out the dark clumps on the right. I usually like a very clean BG.
