    Default Painted Bunting

While driving down a remote farm road with overgrown fencelines this brilliantly colored painted bunting was perched on a fencepost. In most cases they quickly disappear into the thick brush before you even touch your camera. The painted bunting, which looks like it should be a product of the tropical rainforest flying with parrots, was kind enough to allow a picture before flying away.

I like the angle, eye contact and open beak. I would darken the BG a bit, what is in the BG, BTW? Is this a heavy crop? The bird looks a bit soft on my monitor. Keep them coming!

    Hi Axel,

The painted bunting is sitting atop a fence post on the side of the road, which gives you an idea of the bird's small size. The background is the field behind him/her. It is not a 100% crop. I just changed the sharpness from 0 to 7 in my D300 settings. Hopefully this will harden it up a bit.

    Thanks for your comments,
    Tom
