I was more then lucky to get this shot... any crop suggestions? I might try darkening it a little., hard to figure what looks best with this shot on my laptop.

Very slight sharpening added, might cut that out on the next try also.

thanks for looking, have a good week.

ps.. special thanks to Eric Meola, Ashley Hockeberry, Ed Cordes, and Matthew Studebaker for sending me the latest articles for NIOM.

What a lovely shot. I suggest cropping the darker plants at the bottom so up about 1.5cm. Also clone out the clouds at the end of the lower bird's wing. In fact maybe leave only some cloud in the upper RH corner for some perspective.

thanks Colin., those small white areas are openings in the trees behind the birds.

Great mood and light and I like that there is no overlap between the birds. I might crop a bit off the right and remove the bright spots in the BG. I guess you could experiment making it darker but I like it as is.

Excellent capture. The mood is awesome. A little bit more contrast might help....or just darken the birds a bit more.

    Ray:

Very nice mood. I took the liberty of a bit of tweaking, with a slight increase in warmth, and crop from bottom and right. Sure wish you had all of the large tree on left, but the fog/haze reduces the effect of it being cropped.

Just one of many possible crops.

I can see this one on the wall
I only wish that the birds were place more towards the URC.
Agree with Axel regarding the bright spots.

    Ray:

I really like this image, and after looking over your original and my repost, find I prefer the overall feel of your original, but do wish the birds were more towards the URC. I tried to create that in the repost, but find the cropping to get that look left a weaker overall image.

So, taking great artistic license, I moved the birds. I would never do this without disclosing it, but to my eye, it is a more classic composition. I am always trying to hone my aesthetic, and this image lends itself to various interpretations.

    Cheers

    Hey Ray,
I went with the crop.....and some clean up of the open sky areas and some of the branches on the bottom. I do realize everyone isn't comfortable with that.....but the re-post will show a different posibility. I did also add a bit to the blacks in selective color. Any way you look at this....the mood and color are outstanding! Let me know what you think of the other PP tweaks.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, and crop suggestions... I do agree, the birds would look a lot better if moved to the URHC, and more off center., I purposely left the frame as is, so you all can see what I have to work with.

I like the idea of moving the birds as Randy has done so masterfully, sweet work! But my personal ethics would not allow me to do this... unless I could tell everyone who saw the image what I had done, and this isn't really possible.

Personally, what Roman has done is very cool., thanks Roman. I am not against cloning out a few distractions, we all need to draw a line somewhere.

Considering the techs here, I am really happy to just have something to work with!! please read the story here... http://raymondbarlow.blogspot.com/

I know the white areas where the sun is shining through the trees are kind of distracting, but for some reason, I think they create some interest, and I would personally leave them in the image... all a matter of taste I guess.

    Thanks again for the help!

Ray, I couldn't resist playing with such an artistic image, hope you don't mind.
I kept your original crop and added four Nik Color Effex filters:

    Bi-color filter
    GND filter
    Glamour Glow
Graduated Fog (rotating so it's at the bottom)
The a bot of black to blacks and voila :)
Just wanted to accentuate the existing mood.
