Very Colored Mallard

This was my very first picture i took with my camera Canon Rebel that day 2 years ago. Some people liked it very much , others less. For some, there were too many colors in it , for others that looked almost as a paint.
What do you think?

The water looks painterly but I think that distracts from the bird. The steep angle and the lack of eye contact don't help, either.

Overall, I like the colors of the water but think that the contrast between the dark lines and the lighter spots on the right side of the frame overpower the duck. I agree with Axel about the angle and eye contact.
