I did a Benson treatment in DAP then a watercolor treatment in DAP and blended them together then masked in some of the original.

On the second post I added my lighting treatment w/ foil
    Which do you prefer?:)

Hi Denise, The 2nd is nice but the Benson/watercolor does it for me. Beautiful! Backround is lovely with soft lighting and a real painterly look. The upright feather gives the image something extra. Well handled!!

my fav here is #1 Denise......your foil treatments have been splendid also, but here
I think it may be a bit much for the bird.....I dunno!! This is why I don't comment too much.
    Too much indecision

anyway, I see the first as a bit dark....whatcha think young lady?

Dave, I agree it is a bit dark-I love the repost. I also like the tighter crop-Thankyou! Hope this is better. I also see you added some texture, which I forgot to do in the first post.:)
Dave Mills, Thankyou for the input also.

After seeing it posted I think I could go a bit lighter in the head.

Hi Denise - love the base image and prefer the original. I think there is enough detail in the image without adding the foil treatment. I do think the original is a little dark, which gives it more of a "masters" feel. Lightening it up has given a more modern feel to it. Nicely done!

Hi Denise, Agree with Kerry's remarks. I like Dave's but it has a whole different feel to it. I like your original but your repost is a nice compromise between the two.

Denise, I like both, but like the second one a little more. However, the area just about the bill and head does not match the pattern adjacent to it. I would blend that area a little, if it were my vision.

    Hey Denise,
Man the 2nd one is sweet!!!.....I like the 1st one....2nd one is super! Love the effect you are using.....so much.....I actually tried one myself today......still working on it to get it close. My only recommendation is to bring up the eye selectively like you did in the re-post. Very nicely done!!!

Kerry, Dave, Mark and Roman- Thankyou all for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Mark, Good eye, I hadn't noticed it before. Will do a fix-up in the morn.
Roman, Can't wait to see what you come up with! I'll lighten the eye, now that you pointed it out-it really stands out as dark!!

Denise, I love the original - how about the lighter version with your foil treatment:)

Beautiful image, Denise, and I enjoyed reading this thread and looking at all of the versions. (I missed a lot yesterday!) I think I prefer your repost ( not the foil version). Love the textures and colors on that one.

Wonderful! Your and Dave's reworks of the first one are my favorites. I love the background and the bird's eye is so sharp and beautiful.
