American Golden Plover usually appear during the first two weeks in Sept at Sandy Hook. Not the perfect light angle but with the wind and tide directions it was the best I could do. Its still a treat when the golden plovers appear mixed in with the more usual shore birds.

Nice one, I think I photographed the same bird yesterday morning. First I thought it was a juvenile black-bellied plover since it was together with adult BB plovers but I think your ID is right. I like the details and angle and don't think the light angle is so bad since the light is soft.

Art, I didn't see any there the last time I was there but now I want to go back! Nice low angle. Good details and pose. I like the soft colors in the BG. Might remove one of the catchlights. Nice composition.

The golden colours show up nicely, and I like the relaxed pose. I would maybe blend in the two darker spots ULC.

He does have a golden hue to the plumage. I like the light and pose. Agree with Stuart on the dark OOF spots.

I know him!! Actually I saw this bird on Saturday morning on North Beach east of the tidal inlet but couldn't get a decent shot of him. Then a couple of fishermen walked by and he flew off with the other birds. I couldn't relocate him afterwards.

Very nice image, Art. I think the softer evening light helped a lot here. The dark spots are a tad distracting but nothing serious to my eye.

What great light for such a beautiful bird. Wonderful detail and fine comp. I might get rid of the dark spots , if it were mine.
