A Coastal Brown Bear from my workshop at Lake Clark National Park in August. Cropped as shown but I have some more room around her so other cropping suggestions sought. This is one of my favorites from the trip so far.

    Hi Robert,
I think the crop suits this one just fine. The head turn and raised paw pointing in the same direction goes well being contained within the edges of the heart-shaped pose of the bear. I also like the light and colors.

Thats a fair sized bear Robert, and how are those paws. I like the look on the face, and I feel your comp is fine as is.

Nicely done Robert. With the exception of removing the flies to the right of her head I would leave it as is.

Great pose ... can see why it's one of your favorites!

With respect to the crop, I think I'd like to see just a tad more room on the left.

It is obvious that you have captured incredibly sharp detail here and it is hard to
judge sharpening from a jpeg on the web, but, FWIW, as it appears to me here on my 24" Cinema Display,
it seems very close to the line of looking oversharpened and a bit unnatural, especially the body.

Thanks Mike. The problem is I had to use a quality setting of 50% to get in under 200kb. At 100% it looks much better and not over-sharpened. I even went back and lowered sharpening to make the final JPEG look better. This one only had one round of sharpening at 175/0.3/0. Only thing I can do now is redo the whole image as I started with some capture sharpening and remove that. I decided it was not worth the effort because when I post it to my website, it will be at a higher IQ level.

    Mike,

Thanks for the kind comments. I thought about the flies but decided to leave them in.

I like the way you cropped it, brings a lot of emphasis to the suject. Also like the detail in the bear, especially the eyes. The raised paw is very nice as well.

Great pose and image with excellent detail and a wonderful view of those grizzly paws but most of all I love the beautiful eye contact. Fine work Robert.

this is a very pleasing image. some space on the left will improve slightly IMO, but this is just pure bear-candy to my eye! :)

You have really managed to convey the massive bulk of the animal! The soft sidelighting enhances the texture in the fur very effectively. Overall a powerful image, the raised paw adds that special touch!
