This egret has wings outstretched, head straight up, lower neck feathers raised, in response to another great egret in the bayou water below.
comments and critique welcomed. regards Bill.
I've also included a close up view of just the bird in the following post.
It's a beautiful artistic piece Bill! Very nice w/ the small blue flowers. I'm glad you inc. the close-up so we could see the details. I may have preferred the composition with the extra space at the top instead of the bottom. But I'm glad you left room for it's feet!!
Hi Bill, Nice effect and I like the wing position of the bird. The blue flowers add to the overall interest. I agree with Denise regarding the birds position since he's facing skyward and looks like he's ready to take off.
Thanks Dave and Denise. Dave, I see your point in in relation to that I thought I'd point out the great egret behavior shown here. No,the head position of the bird does not indicate he is ready to fly upward, he is displaying to another egret. The head up position, which is shown by Great Blue Herons as well, is part of the display to threaten a rival bird. Meanwhile, the other bird, in the water, was assuming the same position, which I also captured. regards~Bill
