This imaged was captured inside a blind using the D 300 and f4 500 at 7.1 with the SB 800 flash, I removed a part of the log to the right side of the photo.

lovely colours on this one Rod! eye is nice and sharp too. your cloning is visible on the right side of the log - some cleanup there would be easy. the fact that the whole bird isn't in focus isn't that big an issue to me but the DOF on the bird isn't consistent with the DOF on the perch for me - did you do some additional blurring?

Amazing colours on this bunting, and good to see the open beak. I would try and blend in the darker areas of the BG.

The bunting is spectacular! Would agree on blurring the background.

Oh... This is very pretty. Wonderful pose. Tail OOF doesn't bother me. Overall the saturation feels a bit high. I know these guys are pretty bright, but I'd still tone it down just a bit. I'd sure love to have one of these in my files. Congrats on this image.

Wow!!! The birds colors are just over the top great!!!
Good Thread. The suggestion to blur the clonning trace next to the log can be done with Lasso/Feather/Gausian Blur < 5.8; be careful with the Gausian Blur because too much or repeats can leave banding---there is always the HISTORY WINDOW to go back so have fun making this one totally super.
