This trumpeter swan was swimming at the local bird sanctuary, and inspired by some of the lovely water reflections shown recently, thought I would capture this fellow as a warm up for the fall color.
Nikon D300 300mm F/4 at 4.5 1/640 ISO 800 handheld, as low as I could get with the fence.
Way to almost blown whites is this compositions only proble. If you have Photoshop CS2 or better you can fix this under the Image-Adjust menu go down to SHADOWS/BRIGHTNESS. In less than one minute with these two sliders you will have fixed the problem.
Hi Randy, super comp, and I like the regal pose. Good detail and sharpness on the head and neck, and the whites on the body seem borderline to me. I would liked to have seen more of the reflection, as what we can see, looks great. I know having included all of the reflection if you had it, would reduce the size of the swan in the overall image. Great capture.
