Took this last year in the Kruger National Park when I had just started photography but never used it as it was basically silhouette against a blown out sky.
I've tried Denise's tips with render - lighting and metallic with spotlight.
I quite like the way it's turned out :p

Sometimes OOTB ideas can save an image for better use. Doesn't have to be technically perfect to be a nice image. This is a good shot of the birds and you created the environment that makes it click.
I like the HA of the birds as well. Looks like the had a common subject they were viewing.
