    A big storm passed about 15 miles to my west this evening. I just came in from shooting the lightning from it.

    EOS 1DsMKIII Bulb mode
    70-200 f2.8L IS @ 70mm

    ISO 100 f2.8 Open the shutter when the flash happens. Hold the shutter open until the lights go out

    Looks good Michael This I haven't tried ever but always wanted .. even considering getting a trigger !!!

    Michael, Really cool looking image. I'd crop this to a vertical.Nicely done.

    I agree Denise. It's definitely asking to be cropped vertical. You should have seen what I missed :D

    Thanks Gus... I have about 6 or 7 from about 10 minutes of the storm. We didn't get any much needed rain but someone did. When I first checked the weather this storm was up in College Station, TX which is a little over 100 miles away. The center of the radar profile was white. That's pretty intense. I wish that I would have tried to shoot it sooner. There was quite a light show going on before I took these.

    Alfred- I've thought about getting a trigger too but so far I've had good luck with the method that I use.
