The bigger picture often tell the story better than a single element therein. We had at one time ten bears in the field of view, but the bears positions were not conducive to good comp.

    Hey Chas,
Very cool showing the falls! You were there this year?......I didn't get that many at one time at the falls in late July....heard the run was a bit early. Do like that you have a few salmon jumping also......gives a very nice perspective of the platform view.

    Roman,

I was there in late July with a group, salmon were slow, but the bears were plentiful and a wolf showing made a good day for all.

    Chas,
Nice environmental image. I like the composition. The salmon jumping up and the bear waiting to grab it adds a lot to the image. Lovely. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Lovely environmental shot Chas. As Sabyasachi said, the Salmon leaping up with the bear waiting for lunch adds immensely.

OMG-Look at all those bears! I reall like the big picture. It does look a little dark on my monitor by the bushes at the top. Fantastic image.

This is one of those photos that has a very interesting story to tell. The bear about to pounce on the midair salmon is classic, I can't stop looking at the part of the photo.

Nice to see the bigger picture of this area. They all seem to know where to look.

Love the overall view and the inclusion of all the bears. The salmon is a nice bonus!

Like the others have said, we see so many images of tightly cropped bear/salmon images. This overall view tells a more complete story. Do the bear wait their turn at the top?

No, their is a definite hierarchy. As in previous visits we only saw two bears alternate that position, and when the bigger guy would come the smaller would run ;)

Awesome !!!!! I can just feel the excitement you must have been feeling at such a sight. I watched the grizzly man last night and I think if I had seen it before going to Katami I might have stayed home !!!!!! Just kidding of course. Your image is fabulous Chas and it tells such a wonderful story. Love it.

    Judy,

    Thanks for the kind words.

FYI-I was photographing bears at Kaflia Bay a VERY short distance from the grizzly maze 2 weeks ago.
