    Default Macaw Portrait

I visited the Bird gardens in Johannesburg this last weekend. Half an hours drive. I posted a blue/yellow Macaw a little while back, but that image was taken over two years ago. Here is a red Macaw from Sunday. These guys are on open perches in one part of the gardens, and can walk on the ground if they wish. Im assuming their wings are clipped. I manourved to get a clean BG. Full frame too.

Good looking bird !!! I like the corp, sharpness and bg Would only back down saturation on the reds !! Sensors seem to over cook them on their own !!

Reds look pretty good on my monitor. As an aside the metering on the 7D is supposed to handle reds much better than previous Canon bodies, which always seem to overexpose the red channel. I like the detail in this image; the ruffled feathers add a lot of texture.
