    Dave:

Sharp, well exposed, excellent pose. The legs and talons are impressive.

I might consider lightening the portion of the eye that is shadowed just a bit.

If your ethics allow, might try version without the branch on the right side, or alternately lowering the luminosity a bit so it doesn't compete with the bird. Even just removing the small spur projecting towards the birds breast might simplify the image a bit.

    Very nice capture.

    Hi Randy.
I have a few images of this bird some with him looking straight ahead. On those I have cloned out the branch on the right and added canvas on that side. Because he is looking the other way I found that I preferred this image with the branch still in as it anchors the image on the right and the curve follows his body shape.

I do agree with you on the toning down and the eye shadow. Thanks for your input/comments.
I will post the other one sometime.

    Dave:

I did a quick clone job to remove the branch, to see what it looked like, and I agree with your assessment. It does help balance the image. I also cloned out just the spur, and did like that, might want to try that version.

    Cheers

    Randy

Hi Dave, I wouldnt change a thing. I like the pose following the curved branches on the right. Lovely light, which in turn shows good detail and colours. I actually like this a lot. NTS.

Very nice. I like the way the vertical branch on the right follows the lines of the bird. Nice capture

Super detail! When I first looked at the pic, it felt as if there was too much dead space to the left - however, on looking at it for longer, I find the space adds to the pic.

Lovely image, prefect sharpness and the right perch does help balance the shot. Can't get any better, I would also brighten tail shadow just a bit.

Beautiful image of a fierce looking raptor.Plumage is so beautiful, seeing this for the first time.I would have cloned out the parallel branch, it drags the attention away from the bird and there is no common node between the branch on which the bird is perch and the lone standing branch. You can try a vertical composition crop to include more wood and the branching from the same base.
