I am not an African bird expert but it has the look of a babbler to me.

    Any advance?

I will have to check when I get home, but it looks like a prinia of some sort.

I thought some sort of Cisticola myself - maybe a Neddicky (Piping Cisticola Cisticola fulvicapilla) - with the rufous cap

That seems to fit pretty well. Same family as prinias, so I was in the right ballpark.

Hi Michael , the bird is definitely a Cisticola. Either Wailing Cisticola or Levaillant's. Both have Rufous crown and marked back and occur in the area that you photographed it. The Wailing has a streaked back as in your first photograph and that would be my choice.
The Cisticolas are very difficult to positively identify, for me at least, and one often needs the call and display flight to make sure.
