Beautiful image Nicholas! I love the low angle here. The waves in the FG are visually pleasing. The bird is well posed with a good head angle and eye contact with a nice catchlight. Great sharpness (1/40s at 850mm??!!) with good feather detail. I love the low contrast and the soft muted tones. I might have liked a little more DOF to get the tail in focus but you didn't have enough light to try that.

    Nicolas:

Remarkable sharpness with that setup. Nice angle of bird and head. Well exposed.

I wish the bird wasn't standing in a depression, would be nice to be able to see the feet. Yes, not always possible with this low angle.

I might consider brightening the eye just a bit

    Thanks for sharing!

I don't mind not seeing the feet. It still works compositionally because you left room at the bottom for "virtual feet".

I realy like the shape of the mud, those highs and lows makes a special setting.
I also like the sharpness (1/40 well done), soft colors and BG.
Leaving some more room top and left may benefit IMO.
