    Default Redtail (banking)

Its been a busy summer for me... lots of family time and catching up on things which has meant less time on any of the forums. Here is an image of a Redtail Hawk from a short while ago.

    Mike:

Lovely colors here, with nice tail fan, complimentary BG, like the comp.

To my eye, it is a bit oversharpened, as I am starting to see some jagged edges, esp. along the leading edge of the rear wing.

In a perfect world, I would prefer the closer wing to be either up more, or down more, so we could see more of it. Do you have any others in this series?

    Thanks for sharing.

    Randy

Mike: I like the flaired tail on this. Looks like pretty good sharpness. The background is very interesting. I like the look. Too bad the bird wasn't banked over more. His right wing is difficult to see.

A millisecond later, and the near wing would have been extended down. I like angle of flight, good eye contact, and like the detail and colours on the top of the wing. The lighter BG makes him stand out nicely. I dont find this oversharpened, although I can see a halo on the front of the far wing.

I agree, I wish the lower wing was dropped down.
The upper wing is the front edge which is white on the bird and may have fooled you into thinking it was a halo. :) I sharpen in LAB mode minimally so as not to get halo's. ;)

I like the light, BG and eye contact and agree that the position of the near wing is not ideal.

The near wing has been mentioned, and that is my only concern. The flared tail is pretty cool - nice BG too, it has a somewhat of a winterly feel to it.

the BG compliments the bird nicely and I like the overall feel of the image. wing position has been mentioned.

The background is out of this world- perfect amount of information / out of focus. Then add to that the razor sharp bird and the fact that it is displaying its tail feathers well - all I can say is WOW! Amazing work Mike.

nice image Mike., might not be the greatest wing position, but it is different, and interesting.
