The golden eagle is a keystone species here in the Bighorn Basin of NW Wyoming and thus important for my upcoming book... This adult is approaching the nest with part of a jackrabbit in it's talons.

This is excellent, I like the included environment and underwing details. Do you have the impression that ISO 320 has advantages over 400? According to some pixel peepers ISO 400 is less noisy than 320.

I've never really tested closely to see if there is much difference between 320 & 400. I just remember after the Mk2 came out some people on another site seemed to think 320 was a sweet spot for the MK2... On my mk3 800 is as good as 320 on my mk2....

I can only find the table for the Mark III right now, but I remember that it was pretty much the same tendency for other cameras, too.

    D. Bob, Good job in very harsh light. Beware those graphs and who's counting the noise...

I wish I could get the eagles returning to the nest in better light. They usually leave the nest very early to hunt. They only return to the nest several times each day. The afternoon return has the most potential but this was a morning shoot nest for sure. This was actually pretty early for a return, 9:07 am on May 16th so the sun unfortunately was fairly high in the sky by then...

    great shot !!!
shows some habitat, but doesn't distract.

Axel, I agree, on my Mark IIn IS0 320 is worse than 400. My steps are normally 200 and then 400, as 250 and 320 are not a real advantage.

    Hi Robert,

I like the composition. The BG gives this image a nice habitat as well.

    Thanks!

Terrific shot Robert. Can't add anything else to the already excellent comments.
