I was just sorting through some photos from earlier in the year and came across this Goosander photo taken on a very still morning on an upland lake in North Wales. I hope to be returning to have another go for them in a few months time. This photo has been through the PS mill a bit to recover some detail in the blacks on the head. I realise there is a bit of noise in the background which was partly contributed to by a tough exposure and also some thin mist behind the bird. I have tried cleaning this up a bit but noise reduction just adds some horrible banding effects.

I love this bird and I love this image. You have done a great job with the EXp and the green head. I love the raised crest. I am wishing only that they head were turned just a bit more away from you.
All in all: killer!
ps: A bit of Eye Doctor work might improve it.

We all say its about the light, but I like the darker mood in this. Great work on those greens of the head. If anything, I would take a bit off the bottom. Well captured Rich.
Thanks for the comments. The large upland lake where these birds are found in the winter is a beautiful place and it is joy to be in the company of such wonderful birds.
